Chepang are one of the rare hunting-and-gathering groups of the Himalaya. They led such a life at least until mid 1800s. Today they have settled in the hills of Central Nepal where farming conditions are poor. Despite being one of the ancient populations to penetrate the Himalaya, Chepang today are one of the most marginalized groups in Nepal. This is our attempt to introduce Chepang and our work with the Chepang community. Shot with GoPro Hero4.

Raute are the last of the hunters and gatherer groups in the Himalaya that still live a nomadic life. Given their language and lifestyle, Raute appear to be one of the ancient peoples of the Himalaya. This video documents our endeavors in meeting and working with these ancient peoples. Dadeldhura Raute (a Photo Essay on recently settled hunter-gatherer peoples)
Among the Raute, the last of the hunters and gatherer groups in the Himalaya, there are two groups. One still lives a nomadic life. The second has recently settled down in Dadeldhura and are called Dadeldhura Raute. The latter has received little attention and is often confused with the nomadic Raute. In this video, we attempt to present various aspects of life of the Dadeldhura Raute.
